ISSUE# 071 WEDNESDAY, MAY 27, 2026 HENRY COUNTY GA

Good morning, Henry County.

Hope you made it through the overnight storms safely.

Flash flooding rolled through parts of metro Atlanta overnight, roads are still slick this morning, and more rain is expected through early afternoon before things finally begin drying out.

Before the day gets away from you, there are a few important stories worth your attention this morning, including one major deadline ending tomorrow, and rising summer costs.

Let’s get into it. πŸ¦…πŸ‘οΈ

I-75 Comment Window Closes Tomorrow

HENRY COUNTY - GDOT wants to add 41 miles of truck-only commercial lanes on I-75, ending right at SR 20 in Henry County. This is one of the biggest proposed road changes to hit this corridor in years. The public comment period closes Thursday, May 28. Most people don't know this is happening. You can weigh in online, call (678) 528-7275, or email [email protected]. Here's what GDOT is proposing

Henry County Honors David Scott

STOCKBRIDGE - Yesterday, Henry County held a special marker ceremony at the intersection of East Atlanta Road and Stagecoach Road in Stockbridge to honor the legacy of late Congressman David Scott. He represented Georgia for more than 50 years and became the first Black lawmaker to chair the U.S. House Agriculture Committee. The Board of Commissioners also presented a formal proclamation at their evening meeting. A fitting tribute to one of Henry County's own. Read about the ceremony

Gas Delivered Right to Your Car

ATLANTA - Tired of stopping at the pump? A new metro Atlanta app called Gas Dash delivers fuel directly to your parked car β€” at home, at work, at Walmart, wherever. You pick the fuel type, enter how many gallons you want, and a driver is on the way. Available 24/7. You pay the going rate plus a delivery fee. Metro Atlanta gas just hit $4.03 a gallon, and with the state gas tax suspension ending June 3, this one is worth knowing about. Not yet in Henry County, but it's in our backyard and expanding. Convenience comes at a price though. Drivers still pay delivery fees on top of fuel costs. See how it works

Georgia Kids Are Losing Therapy Access

GEORGIA - This story has been building for weeks, but it's worth putting on your radar if it hasn't been already. Two of Georgia's three Medicaid managed care companies, CareSource and Peach State Health Plan, have cut reimbursement rates to therapists by 20%. Children with physical disabilities and speech delays are the ones most at risk of losing access. Therapists can't afford to stay in the Medicaid network at those rates, so families are being turned away. Henry County families are feeling this too. If your child receives Medicaid-funded therapy, talk to your provider now about what's changing. Read the full story

Your Cookout Budget Just Got Smoked

GEORGIA - Ground beef is up 14%, now averaging $6.89 a pound, up from $5.23 last year. Ten burgers that cost about $16.90 last summer will run you $19.60 this July 4th. A full cookout for 10 now costs $71.22 up 30% from five years ago. The USDA says prices will keep climbing through 2027. Summer grilling season just got a lot more expensive. See the full breakdown

πŸ¦… Caught Our Eye

MCDONOUGH - Another new restaurant is helping expand Henry County’s growing food scene. El Jalisco recently celebrated a ribbon cutting in McDonough and has already started drawing attention from locals looking for another Mexican dining option on the south side of town.
