Henry County Lost $2 Million in Grants. Here's What the New CFO Found

HENRY COUNTY β€” When new CFO Joy Robinson took over in January, Henry County's finances were in complete disarray, with stacks of unpaid bills and a lack of checks and balances that left county vendors waiting months to get paid. More than $2 million in state grants were lost because paperwork wasn't filed on time. Chair Carlotta Harrell says the financial services department now reports directly to the commission instead of the county manager as part of the fix. Every Henry County taxpayer should read this one. Read more at WSB-TV Channel 2

The Drought Just Showed Up in Your Grocery Cart

HENRY COUNTY β€” Georgia farmers across 146 counties are now designated federal natural disaster areas, with some stopping production altogether as costs spiral out of control. Fresh produce like carrots, corn, and tomatoes is already getting harder to find and more expensive at markets across metro Atlanta. The drought isn't just a weather story anymore. It's showing up in your cart at checkout. Read more at CBS News Atlanta

Georgia Schools Are Paying a Fortune at the Pump. Henry County Should Pay Attention

GEORGIA β€” Rising fuel costs are hitting school districts across Georgia where it hurts most, right in the transportation budget. One metro Atlanta district is spending $3.4 million on fuel alone, nearly half its entire transportation budget, and some are switching to propane buses just to stabilize costs. With Henry County Schools running buses across one of the fastest-growing counties in the state, this is a pressure worth watching closely here at home. Read more at WSB-TV Channel 2

Reese Witherspoon Said It. Now Let's Do Something About It

A couple of weeks ago, Reese Witherspoon posted something that stopped a lot of women in their tracks. "The jobs women hold are 3x more likely to be automated by AI, yet women are using AI at a rate 25% lower than men on average," she wrote to her 30 million followers. "We don't want to be left behind. So…do you want to learn with me?"

She polled her book club. Only 3 out of 10 women had used AI. Sound familiar?

The Brookings Institution backed it up with a number that’s hard to ignore. In the jobs most likely to be impacted by AI, 86% are held by women. Administrative work. Customer service. Healthcare support. Education. Creative roles. The jobs women have always shown up for. The real question is who's going to be at the table when the decisions get made.

If these stats made you pause, you’re not alone. And if you’ve been curious about AI but not quite sure where to start, that’s exactly why we created EyeQ. We’re building this step by step, focusing first on simple, practical ways you can actually use AI in your everyday life before moving into more advanced tools.

Today’s EyeQ isn’t a tip. It’s a big picture moment on why this matters.

Now, as we continue building that foundation, we’d love your input.
