Happy Friday, Henry County.
We don't cover hard crime as a rule here at the Eagle Eye. But this week a story went viral across the country that we couldn't ignore because it has a Locust Grove connection. It's not just a crime story. It's also a story about conscience, faith, and what happens when a person decides to tell the truth finally. π¦ ποΈ
We also have a hyper-local update on Lake Spivey, a national story about family finances that hits close to home, and a Weekend Eye thatβs packed with local events like a gospel festival, film festival, and so much more.
Let's get into it. π¦ ποΈ

A Man Walked Into the Locust Grove Police Station and Confessed to a Murder
LOCUST GROVE - In August 2024, a 60-year-old man walked up to the front desk of the Locust Grove Police Department and told officers he had murdered someone in New Jersey in 1989. Thirty-five years earlier. He had been living in the area, attending a local church, and participating in a men's group. He said his faith led him to come forward.
Authorities launched a cross-state investigation and his DNA matched biological evidence from the original crime scene. Joseph Quiros-Soto was arrested last week and charged with murder. The story is now all over national outlets. We chose not to run it when it first broke because we don't cover hard crime. But this one is different. This is a story about what it looks like when a person's conscience finally wins. Read the full story
