Good morning, Henry County. Welcome back from the long weekend.
We're back with a full week ahead.
If you're in Southeast Henry County, the Water Authority has issued an official Boil Water Advisory. Details are inside.
Henry County is getting its first-ever bus route that connects McDonough and Stockbridge, and it’s free for the first month.
McDonough residents, the way you get rid of big stuff changes today. A speed blitz hits I-75 next week, so consider this your warning.
One more thing before you scroll. This Friday downtown Stockbridge launches its own version of NPR's Tiny Desk. It’s free, live, and right outside. And since nobody asked but everyone needed to know, today is National Fried Chicken Day. Check which national chains are offering deals.
Now let's get into it. 🦅👁️

EyeQ #12: I found a hidden charge on my AI account, and you might have one too

HENRY COUNTY - I almost missed it! Right in the middle of writing this Eagle Eye issue, a message popped up telling me I was "now using credits." I checked my settings and found I'd spent over $26 above my regular plan this month. Nobody warned me. It just started charging.
Here's the tip. Most AI chat apps, like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, charge one flat fee, usually around $20 a month. But once you use up what that fee covers, some apps switch you to pay-as-you-go. Every word typed and every word the AI sends back starts costing more automatically, with no forewarning.
Here's how to check your own account.
Open your AI app on a computer, not your phone.
Find "Settings," then look for "Usage" or "Billing."
Look for a toggle called "Extra Usage" or "Usage Credits."
Check if there's a spending limit set. Mine said "Unlimited."
If you don't want surprise charges, turn the toggle off or set a real dollar limit.
This matters because most of us signed up for one flat bill. Finding a second one hiding underneath it feels sneaky, especially when these extra fees are rarely mentioned anywhere.
Try this today: Open your settings and just look. If you find something like I did, you get to decide what happens next instead of your card deciding for you!
Glossary: Usage Credits
The money you get charged once your flat monthly fee runs out. Every word you type and every word the AI sends back gets counted, kind of like a taxi meter that starts running the second your free ride ends. That per-word counting unit is called a "token," but you'll just see it show up as dollars spent.
