Tales From The Perch: An Entrepreneur’s Story

Finding Balance Through Pizza In McDonough

MCDONOUGH - There’s an irony to Tony Eiermann’s story. He was born in Chicago, raised mostly in Georgia, and spent more than twenty years in corporate America. Yet today, he owns Da Vinci’s NY Style Pizza, one of the most authentic New York-style pizzerias you’ll probably find anywhere in Henry County.

“I pretty much consider myself to be from Atlanta,” he says. “The Chicago roots are probably a lot shallower than the Georgia roots.”

Tony purchased the restaurant in September 2024. It’s been part of the community since 2005, but now it carries his imprint. Red and white tablecloths. Faux brick walls. A Times Square photo he’s kept in his office for years now hangs proudly inside.

He says the local Chamber of Commerce has been helpful during the transition, offering support and connections as he stepped into ownership.

“I was in New York a lot,” he says of his corporate career. “New York and New Jersey area, I was up there a lot. I know that culture.”

And it shows. The slices are old-world style, thin and foldable, the kind that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a neighborhood pizzeria off Arthur Avenue in the Bronx.

When asked what made him step into entrepreneurship, he laughs. “Temporary insanity.”

But the joke carries truth. The pressure, the travel, the round-the-clock demands were relentless. The time away from family was adding up.

Owning a restaurant isn’t easy. The days are long, and the responsibility is heavy. But it’s his.

“I’ve been saying for years I wanted to buy a restaurant,” he says. “But I wanted it to be a pizza place.”

Corporate may have paid the bills, but pizza restored balance and appreciation for what mattered most.

💎TONY’S HIDDEN GEM PICK 💎

Kirby G’s Diner & Pub

“They’re about the community and supporting local,” Tony says, “their burgers are on point. They’ve got custom burgers you literally can’t find anywhere else. That pimento cheese burger? You’re not getting that just anywhere.”

For Tony, it’s not just about good food. It’s about places that feel intentional and rooted in community.
