Summer 2026 Just Got Cooler in McDonough

MCDONOUGH - Set to open in June 2026, Henry County’s new $55 million aquatic center in McDonough is expected to be a game-changer for local recreation and competitive swimming.
Funded by SPLOST V, the facility will feature a 50-meter indoor competition pool and a large outdoor water park, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. County leaders say the center will expand fitness and leisure options for residents while also attracting regional swim meets and other competitive events to the area.
The project follows years of planning and public input and reflects growing demand for high-quality recreational amenities in one of metro Atlanta’s fastest-growing counties.
Once completed, the aquatic center is expected to serve families, swimmers of all ages, and competitive teams across Henry County and surrounding communities. Officials say the investment will help strengthen community wellness, support youth and competitive sports, and enhance the county’s overall quality of life.
County leaders have described the aquatic center as a long-term investment in Henry County’s future. Click Here For More

🎭ARTS & CULTURE SPOTLIGHT🎭

A Rasin In The Sun: A Broadway Classic Right Here in McDonough
One of the most powerful plays ever written is taking the stage right here in McDonough.
The Henry Players Theatre is currently presenting A Raisin in the Sun, with a performance on February 22 at 7 pm. The landmark play has a legendary history, having starred trailblazers like Sidney Poitier, Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis, Phylicia Rashad, and Audra McDonald on major stages. Now, this story of family, dreams, and resilience is being brought to life by local talent from our own community.
Behind the curtain is the Henry Players, a nonprofit, volunteer-powered community theater founded in 1991. For more than 30 years, they have been entertaining and inspiring audiences from their cozy 200-seat theater on Hood Street, where every performance feels personal.
Over the years, the Henry Players has staged crowd favorites like A Chorus Line and Yes, Virginia There Is a Santa Claus, along with socially impactful works that spark conversation and connection.
The performers you see are your neighbors. Students, teachers, parents, retirees, and creatives who volunteer their time and talent simply because they love live theater.
More than a theater, the Henry Players is a creative home that keeps local storytelling alive.
