Update: Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Southeast Henry County

HENRY COUNTY β€” Good news for Southeast Henry County residents. The Henry County Water Authority lifted the boil water advisory Tuesday evening after the issue that caused it was identified and resolved.

HCWA General Manager Tony Carnell confirmed the problem started when an air blockage in a feeder line caused organic matter to clog the filters, forcing the Tussahaw plant to temporarily shut down.

Why it matters: If your water still looks a little off today, that's normal and expected to clear up shortly. No need to boil. Just run your tap for a few minutes if the discoloration bothers you. Full update at WSB-TV β†’

Henry County Is Getting Its First Dedicated Fire Training Campus

HENRY COUNTY β€” Henry County firefighters will soon have a place to train right here at home, complete with a live burn building and classrooms instead of traveling outside the county. Fire officials say the campus could help Henry County earn the state's highest fire protection rating.

Why it matters: A higher fire rating can mean lower homeowners insurance premiums for residents across the county. This is your fire department leveling up β€” and your wallet could feel it.

Henry County Just Locked In $9 Million for a Road That Could Change Your Commute.

HENRY COUNTY β€” The county secured an additional $3 million in state funding for the Western Parallel Connector, bringing total state assistance to $9 million. The extra funding means less of the cost falls on local taxpayers.

Why it matters: The Western Parallel Connector is designed to give commuters an alternative route and ease congestion on some of Henry County's most backed-up corridors. More state money means it stays on track.

That Mount Olive Road Closure Just Got Pushed Back. Here's Your New Timeline.

HENRY COUNTY β€” The planned closure of Mount Olive Road has been pushed from July 7 to August 14, giving drivers a few more weeks before detours kick in along Chambers Road. Construction is expected to last up to six months once it begins.

Why it matters: If Mount Olive is part of your daily routine, you just got a reprieve. Mark August 14 on your calendar and start thinking about your alternate route now.
