Residents Call for Broader Review of Data Center Growth

HENRY COUNTY β€” A local grassroots organization is asking elected leaders to take a closer look at the rapid expansion of data centers across Henry and Clayton counties.

Conserve Henry County announced this week that it has sent a formal letter to state and local officials, county commissioners, city leaders, and the Henry County Water Authority requesting a comprehensive regional review of several proposed and approved data center projects.

The group says decisions should consider the cumulative impact on water resources, electricity demand, infrastructure, and surrounding communities rather than evaluating projects one at a time.

Why it matters: Data centers continue to be one of the biggest development stories in Henry County. As more projects are proposed, questions about water, power, and long term infrastructure are becoming a growing concern for many residents. Read Conserve Henry County's letter on Facebook.

Help Preserve One of Henry County's Most Historic Cemeteries

LUELLA β€” Volunteers are needed this Sunday to help clean and preserve the Weems Slave Cemetery, believed to be one of the largest slave burial sites in the Southeast.

Honor Thy Roots Cemetery Preservation Inc. is organizing the cleanup and is looking for volunteers, cleaning supplies, bottled water, and snacks.

Why it matters: It's a chance to help preserve an important piece of Henry County history while honoring those who came before us. Find out more here.

New Playground Opens This Saturday

HENRY COUNTY β€” Families are invited to celebrate the opening of the new playground at J.P. Moseley Park this Saturday, July 11, at noon.

The ribbon cutting marks the completion of the county's newest play space and is free to attend.

Why it matters: New parks and playgrounds create more places for families to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors. See details from Henry County Parks and Reccreations
